Intrauterine Insemination assists in conception and is a treatment for assistive reproduction. Around the time of ovulation, when one or more eggs are released by the ovaries, concentrated sperm after washing are placed directly in the uterus.

The goal is to maximize the number of sperms in the uterus so as to increase the chance of fertilization. A normal pregnancy results after fertilization of the egg by this sperm.
